Walking Down Silver Spring Drive
It really hasn't been great going for a leisurely walk even at lunch. The snow has been built up on the corners so you feel like you got to climb a mountain and risk sliding into the intersection even at lunch. Ugh.
Yesterday, I kind of avoided the cycling Santas and drove over to Bayshore to get a few things from Target. Their holiday card selection sucks. I wanted to get a card for Charlotte to put her gift cards in and get one for Corinne. I found a pink reindeer card for Charlotte. Considering how nice Corinne's cards are to me, their selection was just pathetic. I knew there was a Hallmark store down the street so I figured it would be a good way to get a bit of a walk in yesterday morning. I found a decent card and didn't slide into any intersections on my walk over there.
My mom wanted to get some books from the library that she could read on the Kindle. I told her my card needed to be re-validated and she asked me if I would do that soon. I ventured to the Shorewood Library on my route back and stopped in. I kind of felt obligated to check out a book instead of saying Here, validate me. I guess you got to do it every 2 years. I found a decent book that I might actually get a chance to read if the snow keeps up like this. The author is actually going to be there in April and I might go weather permitting. Never know if it's going to be 60 degrees or a snowstorm at that time of year.
I did see some of the Santas on a bike. I wanted to blow my horn at them but I refrained. That would make me a Grinch, I know. Considering how their bikes slow me down when they're right in front of me doesn't bode well with my mood. I read a story about someone getting shot at for blowing their horn so I don't need a Santa pulling an AR 15 on me because they're doing 5 miles in front of me. Last time I did blow my horn was a month or two ago when I was driving down North Avenue on a Sunday. I was near Whole Foods and some car just blew through the red light as my light turned green and everyone in the car whipped their finger at me. Wow. People have absolutely lost their mind when it comes to driving. I'll refrain from the horn and pull over if someone is tailgating me like I have. I don't want to be subjected to someone's anger.
I can hear Charlie shoveling outside. I know Jeremy will have to work today, not sure when he'll leave. Normally I'd just trudge through the snow and go on about my day but I figured I'll wait until my mom is up and we'll add an extra route on what we had planned. He was even knocking icicles off the house. I would feel like a chump going out there now and just take off while he's working. I know the feeling because others have done it to me. He's been so good about making sure there's salt like by the door where water seems to drip off and form an ice pond. They have a camera by the garage so they probably see me struggling or taking my time when I see the ice patches.
I got a reminder for my eye appointment. I went around this time last year but I can wait until late March. Weather might be more predictable and well, I'll have a little bit of money.
For the last year or so, I downloaded an app that will pay you for playing games. It wasn't bad. You can cash out after you reach $25. It was a nice thing to do when my mom wanted to go to Goodwill or a store to look around that I had no interest in. I would play the games and reach certain levels and earn cash. I think I earned about $150 or so and then in September, they put a freeze on withdrawing for 3 months. They were updating their app and last week when I went to withdraw, I couldn't. I had gotten up to$72 dollars. I finally was able to withdraw but I could only do $50 at a time. That left me with $22 and you can't withdraw until you get to $25. I have about $6.09 pending. They're delaying money you earn for about 2 months. If I reached a certain level with a game, I wouldn't be able to withdraw it until February. I think it's safe to say I'll be done with this app after February.
I get tired of bullshit like this. You think maybe you can get ahead a few steps and then there's five catches to it. Sigh.
Guess I'll be watching Gossip Girl Season 5 this morning. I can't imagine it wouldn't have been good trying to walk the hill. Might not even be shoveled right now. Oh well. Nothing wrong with a stay in Sunday.
I hope the good humans have a good day.
