It's Not You - Someone Else is Rude
My mom didn't want to go back to the food pantry the other week because she said when she sat and waited, someone put their bag on a chair so she couldn't sit by him. She had talked to the man the week before and he kind of looked at her funny. Made her feel weird and she didn't want to go back. I said people can be rude. Really. It's them.
I explained what happened to me taking the bus to college. Depending on what time of day I had to wait, I would maybe have to wait for a second bus because the first bus was full. Sometimes both buses were full of students and I would have to stand on the bus and hold onto the handle. Lots of times people wouldn't give up their seats and that was really annoying.
There was a day that my friend Josh and I waited and had to get on the second bus and stand. It sucked. Driving on the freeway and going around turns is hard when you're carrying a back pack of books and you're tired from lack of sleep.
When I'm getting off the bus, I turned to see my boyfriend sitting next to Margo, my friend, or frenemy. They both looked kind of sorry ,but not really. They said that they saw us and would have offered but I was with Josh. It was really a stupid excuse. I had a fuller day of classes so I was carrying more books. It was kind of symbolic of what they were. I was fine standing with Josh because he was my friend and more fun than those two dimwits.
I told my mom when we had food days, there was such greed with the food and there was no reason for it. Lorna would take home cartons of food and go to a different department when there was food. And yet, she bragged about going to expensive restaurants all the time.
People can be rude and selfish. It's not a reflection on you if they snub you or won't offer a seat. They're just weak in character.
Really - it's them. Rude.
