Stupid Footwear Choices

Well, I got myself out the door this morning maybe shortly after 7.  Made sure the cat was fed and adored her like I normally do because it's all about her.  Washed up and got changed because wearing pajamas on a walk might not be a good look.  So I pulled out my Fetterman hoodie in case it was cold.  Go ahead.  I am judging me for that one.  I left it in the car and holy hell I definitely wouldn't have needed it now.

I finished listening to Cassidy Hutchinson's book on my walk. I was tempted to go back and walk the hill again but I thought I got my 10,000 steps before 9:30 am, let's pace ourselves.  I got more than 10,000 between the couple of places I went to so it was a good good day for moving along.  It's my one thing I want to accomplish. I didn't binge eat, had a good sandwich for my dinner, just feel better.

I don't feel ok about the lack of money part at the moment.  I got the notice for my car insurance increase that will take effect on October 1st.  I couldn't open it. I know what the amount will be, but I wanted to keep feeling ok with the day.

My stupid left foot seems to be hurting, or it's really the side of my foot.  I should know better. I should know better!  I sold shoes for a total of four years.  I have like this weird skin irritation that's kind of hard on the sides of each foot right near my small toe. The right isn't that bad, but the left made my shoe feel like it was being a little pinched.

I know how I got this.  I am worried it might be a wart, but hoping it's just a callous. I had gotten a pair of cheap boots from Boston Store before they closed.  Yep.  Cheap ass boots.  Hard to find any with wide calves.  I remember trying them on and someone had wished they could fill out boots like I could with my thick legs.  Well, thank you kind woman but it's not great finding these type of boots.  I know leather is bad, you're killing animals, I know, I know.  I have Cariuma sneakers for my everyday wear, but leather breathes.  This boots were cheap vinyl.  They felt fine, but probably not fine for what I used them for.  No, not dancing. I gave that up in the 90s. I'm joking.

I normally kept sneakers at my desk when I would take a break at the office.  Sometimes I would just get annoyed and take a walk out in the parking lot with these boots.  Those boots did a lot of walking. More than Nancy Sinatra.  I know I shouldn't have walked with these boots in the parking lot so many times.  I think that's how I got these weird skin bumps.

Why does it make it worse?  I had plantar warts as a teenager and in college.  Gross, I know.  They are horrible.  We got taken to a podiatrist who gave us these horrible shots in the foot.  The second time, I did see my doctor who tried some type of massage tool.  Thanks for the spa experience, but unfortunately, it did nothing.

So he sent me to a dermatologist.  It seemed like a weird thing to do.  I didn't want to go to a podiatrist, after the experience I had.  I saw this nice dermatologist in the area who put like this treatment on my feet that would maybe burn it off.

I had one on my big toe and it did fall off.  The others were stubborn as hell and the treatment was brutal. I remember I took my bandage off one day and my niece was maybe not even 2 yet and sobbed when she saw my "ouchies" and kissed my shoulder.  Poor kid.  I had to use a cane to try to walk because it was painful and I had to do my job.  I would go maybe every two weeks and I think it made some progress but it was so bad with the pain.

My last treatment was before the holidays and I was going to be graduating from college. I was on my step-dad's insurance and once I graduated, I had no insurance.  He was a nice doctor.  He offered other solutions and I told him I couldn't afford anything now.  He then gave me all these samples and told me to try them.  I thanked him and went on my way.

It was maybe a month later and I did try one of the treatments he gave me.  Can't remember if it was a cream or what, but I had a band aid on the two areas.  When I took the band aid off the first one, the area just peeled.  The wart was gone!  It like fell off!  And then the other area did the same thing.  I was so damn happy.  It was magic!  I got mad respect for dermatologists after that.  Except for the one who told me to get botox.  If it made this skin thing go away,  I would change my mind.  I just couldn't believe it.  I had done maybe 6 treatments over the previous 4 months and it took a sample to make them both fall off.  I'll take that as a win.

I'm not sure what the heck I got on my foot nor do I want to show anyone. Lesson learned about shoes.  I told so many women when I sold them if they pinch, it's not going to help if you're going to be somewhere standing.  That didn't make me a very good sales person, now did it?

I got my steps in.  I got to take some extra care of that foot.  Yep.  Damn boots.

I'll get my steps in tomorrow before the rain kicks in.  Got to a chocolate labrador and a black labrador and I wanted to steal both of them.  Don't tell Precious.
