I Miss Bay View

I didn't get to do the walking I wanted to do but I got a lot of driving in.  I had taken a drive to Bay View and I did see a for rent sign.  I did see the price.  Sigh.  My mom and I drove back.  I miss Bay View.  We drove around some neighborhoods that were way out of our league 15 years ago but I was wishful thinking for a nice owner who wanted two old ladies that wouldn't bark at the moon and wouldn't raise around rent 50% every year.

Now Bay View is too cool for school for everyone.  I remember when I moved there.  I was a senior in high school and people thought I was moving to the land of gangs.  Not really.  My friends really didn't want to drive to see me or hang out.  I felt the same by that point.  I was done.

It was easy for me because we had more access to stores, a bus line and it didn't take me an hour and a half to get to UW-Milwaukee every day.  I took the Oklahoma 5 bus and it took maybe 20 or 25 minutes to get there.  We were only blocks away from the freeway and my dad was closer to work.  He worked at a drive shaft shop off of 11th and National for years until the owner's son took over and moved it to New Berlin and fired my dad with one day notice.  The owner's son lost the business.  My dad ran into him at a place where they did business one day. He knew some of the guys that worked there and he saw his former old boss.  The loser acted like he and my dad were best friends.  My dad cursed him out in front of all the guys and embarrassed him.  I would say that was a joyful moment.  I get it.

There was a lot of history there, not all great, but I know the area and I like the area way better than where I live now.  Eh, I know, you can't go home again and I don't want to go to that old home because it sucked.

My first winter alone we had a ton of snow and I got out there and shoveled every day.  Because we had such a ton of snow that December, I came home at lunch and found that the tiles in the bathroom had collapsed on the floor and Tia, the Maine Coon cat who owned me was hiding in our spare bedroom.  That poor cat.  It was such a mess dealing with the leaks and hassles of that place.  I don't miss that place or the neighborhood.

I like that we do have access to a lot here as well.  I was fortunate enough to get help with the license plate.  I stepped into an Advance Auto and showed them a picture of the screw that I was working with and asked if there was a screwdriver that was compatible. I had a small screwdriver that helped somewhat, but I needed something with a little bit of oomph to tighten those stupid screws.  I didn't know that they loan you a tool to work with. I would have bought it and maybe I should have bought it but I went out and worked with it for awhile.  I got the left screw tightened better, but I knew the right one was crooked. I knew they couldn't help me and I thought maybe they would know a place.  I know my neighbor could have helped me as well but I figured while I was out, let's get it taken care of.  The nice kid came out and helped me with both.  I thanked him profusely. I'll write a review when I get a chance.  I appreciate what he did.

I can figure a lot out on my own, but sometimes I do need help.  Such as my key fob battery seems to be low.  What the hell?  I had the battery changed back in late December but here we are again. I had the Auto Parts store help me down the street and I'm um, a little too embarrassed to go back to the other place.  There's a Reilly Auto Parts near Walmart that can help me.  Maybe.  I hate this stuff.  I feel so dumb.  I did get my plate on fifteen years ago and I had about 3/4s down.  I try damn it.  I really try.

Been watching the Real Housewives of Orange County.  I haven't given up on the news but now they're dissecting Kamala's interview with that dork Dana Bash.  Move on people.  And Trump's word salad.  What does bacon and wind have to do with anything?

Turns out my skin irritation self destructed on its own.  I noticed that when I wiped blood from the area.  It would be ok if I wasn't in Target and realized I had blood on the side of my mouth.

It's not easy being me.
