Skincare advice from a 20 something NO Thank you
I feel like a pretentious jerk for saying I get my eyebrows waxed like every 6 weeks. Sometimes 8 weeks. It's not a matter of a beauty thing. It's a matter of I don't ever want to be called eagle eyebrows ever again. I'd like my one eyebrow that seems to grow together to turn into two every month and half or so. I love a thick eyebrow on a man. I don't like it on me. No thank you.
About two years ago my sister told me about her dermaflash that she got. It's to take all the peach fuzz off of your face. I got one and a few other tools to take care of the surprise hairs on my face. Yeah. I had my upper lip waxed and chin for a long time. That gets expensive and I hate the look of having a red upper lip for a couple of hours. And the breakouts. Just frustrating, expensive and annoying. It's helped with that but I was afraid of doing anything with my eyebrows or I would really wind up with one eyebrow.
I have gone off and on to this salon or spa that specializes in this particular thing for about 6 or 7 years. I have gone to the beauty school in downtown Milwaukee but their appointments are hard to get at times. I also have to pay for parking and it has to be done during the week and it just seems like a headache. I don't have anyone particular that I go to this at place I went to yesterday. I kind of pick the newer people because their prices are lower. Yeah, you can call me cheap. Trying to save a few dollars.
The one that I got yesterday was determined to sell me something. They had a 30% off sale. I wasn't familiar with their products but I knew their price point was out of my budget and I didn't need anything. She persisted.
I finally said well my dermatologist is picky about what I use. I used him as an excuse for her not to rob my sad bank account. I use Cerave which is true. I don't have it right now but I have used their moisturizer and will the next time that I need it. She started questioning me about what type of problems I have with my skin. I said I have eczema and she told me that can be fixed with diet. Sigh. Ok Dr. Twenty Something. Going to give me diet tips too? I just got quiet. I thought I had enough of being polite. For something that took 7 minutes, this was getting painful and it wasn't from the wax.
Normally I bring a few dollars with me out of my mad money for tips. She started with making me an appointment for 6 weeks and I played along. I wanted to be done. Once she left, I paid and walked out the door. Then I cancelled the appointment on my phone and no, I didn't leave a tip either. I had enough. I won't be back to here. I have seen other people when I have needed my eyebrows to become two instead of one and never had anyone get this aggressive with me and try to argue that my dermatologist didn't know what he was talking about. He's not selling crap products for 30% off so I'll take his advice over this little girl who's looking to make a commission.
I have given so many tips over the years for hair stylists and estheticians and greedy nail techs for bad service, I just don't regret the rare moment when it passes.
