The Kitty Litter Shoplifter
I seriously think this clerk at the grocery store thought I was shoplifting this morning. I know stores are taking more action with shoplifters but this clerk knew better.
I normally stock up on the weekends with kitty litter. She goes through a lot and I like to keep at least two stashed in the hallway. So I thought I'd stop at Pick n' Save in my neighborhood before I headed out to UPS and on my merry way for the morning.
I did the do it yourself check out and I pushed my cart over to the door where I entered rather than exit out a different way. I was parked on the side of the store and I thought it was a quicker route. There was another set of registers near one of the stores and my least favorite cashier was standing over there. As soon as I hit the hallway, I heard someone yell "Ma'am!" I turned around and she asked to see my receipt. What? Was she kidding? I held up in my hand and she went back in.
What was that about? She has helped me repeatedly and been at that do it yourself check out many times when I've come in. I live like 6 blocks away and there's some weeks I'm in there almost every day at lunch maybe buying a couple of cans of Sparkling Ice or cat food during my lunch. I have lived in the neighborhood for 16 years. Why all of a sudden was there a need for her to chase after me to ask me if I paid for the kitty litter? She has helped me scan the litter by showing me the scan gun when I couldn't get it over the scanner when I did basically her job.
I was offended but left. I thought glad I heard her and she didn't sic security on me. It was just offensive. My mom was appalled that it happened and suggested maybe filing a complaint.
I filled out a form online. I don't really care. I thought if I have to go into that store during the week so be it but last time I go in there on the weekend. She's been so unpleasant to me and I can't stand it. She shouldn't work in customer service if she's going to be such a grouch.
So I'm the kitty litter shoplifter pushing my cart out in plain sight.
Maybe she saw me put a Taylor Swift magazine over someone orange's magazine.
If so? GOOD! I'm not shoplifting. Rearranging yes. Shoplifting no.
When I filled out the form, I mentioned that I didn't know the woman's name but she had a grumpy look on her face.
